Bontrans: "Thanks to the CargoCard, we are able to handle one more trip every day".
Transport company Bontrans from Woerden has been using the CargoCard from the very beginning. We interviewed Director and owner Jaco Bonouvrie and asked him about the CargoCard.
Can you tell us a bit about Bontrans?
Jaco Bonouvrie: 'Bontrans is a family business and has been in existence for around 30 years. We started out with two trucks. Now we have 42 lorries, 30 of which are containers and 12 are used to transport waste. We used to have 110 lorries, but due to changing markets we have gone back to a smaller fleet. We now only focus on markets where we can offer added value'.
What does that added value consist of?
We have a number of strong points. We work with our own people, for example, all of whom speak Dutch and are available to our customers 24/7. Many of our customers think that is important. As far as the fleet is concerned, we are actually always ahead. We were the first in the Netherlands with Euro6 vehicles and now our entire fleet consists of them. We were also the first with LVZ vehicles, which is an extra long chassis on which two containers fit. And last but not least, we have 80 trailers of our own. This means we can provide so called ‘coupling work’. We leave the container and trailer with the customer. This gives them plenty of time to unload and therefore little or no waiting costs,' says Bonouvrie.
Your people use the CargoCard, what is the added value of the CargoCard for Bontrans?
We have been working with the CargoCard for so long that it is hard to remember what it would be like without it, but I estimate that our drivers can make one more trip per day thanks to the CargoCard. They no longer have to enter the lodge to obtain a pass and identify themselves, which saves a lot of time.
Parking with a CargoCard is also convenient for us. No messing around with receipts, just a clear total invoice. That also saves us a lot of administrative work.
How would you rate Secure Logistics?
A big 8, especially since we can have the CargoCards collected at Maasvlakte Plaza. Previously they sometimes got lost in the mail, so this is really much more convenient. Our people are always served quickly and friendly. You will get a 10 if we can also use the CargoCard at the large terminals in Antwerp.
