CTVrede introduces facial verification from 1 September for faster, safer and future proof access

From 1 September 2026, CTVrede will introduce facial verification for drivers. With this step, CTVrede is further digitalising and optimising the access process at its terminals, while creating a safer working environment for both drivers and staff.

Facial verification enables a driver’s identity to be verified quickly and contactlessly. Access to CTVrede’s terminals is provided via Secure Logistics, using the CargoCard and facial verification in combination with the TAR code obtained through Portbase’s MCA Road.

This verifies whether the person requesting access is actually the registered CargoCard holder. Facial verification therefore contributes to an efficient flow of drivers and reliable identity verification for CTVrede. The transition to facial verification also supports CTVrede’s ambitions for further automation and safe, future proof access to its terminals.

Transition period until 1 January 2027

From 1 September 2026, drivers at CTVrede can use facial verification. During the transition period, both facial verification and the current finger vein biometric verification will remain available.

From 1 January 2027, access to CTVrede’s terminals will only be possible using facial verification in combination with the TAR code.

Check in time whether facial verification is registered

To maintain access to CTVrede’s terminals from 1 January 2027, every driver’s CargoCard must have facial verification registered.

We therefore ask transport companies and drivers to check in time whether facial verification has been registered and, if necessary, to have it added. This prevents drivers from being unable to access CTVrede’s terminals from 1 January onwards.
