As a specialist in container storage and maintenance, CETEM continuously anticipates changing market demands. This flexibility requires efficient processes and strict compliance with laws and regulations particularly those concerning hazardous materials. Secure Logistics proved to be the ideal partner to support CETEM in this area, offering innovative automation solutions and secure access control.
Flexibility and collaboration as core values
CETEM is renowned for its flexibility and innovative strength as a container depot. This flexibility is evident not only in innovative solutions that seamlessly match the needs of customers, but also in the flexible layout of the terminal itself.
“Our terminal setup can be easily adjusted to respond optimally to changing market demands,” says Marc Hofland, ICT Manager at CETEM.
The strength of CETEM also lies in collaboration, both internally and with external partners. “We believe that you can achieve more together than alone. That’s why we work closely with colleagues, partners, and customers. This joint effort is at the heart of our identity.”
The need for automation
The collaboration with Secure Logistics began in 2013, when CETEM wanted to take a step forward in automation to work more efficiently and better comply with regulations concerning hazardous materials. The decision to choose Secure Logistics was a deliberate one.
“We saw the need to expand and improve, particularly regarding ADR regulations. The reputation of the CargoCard gave us confidence. We were looking for an affordable and future-proof access control solution and found Secure Logistics to be a reliable partner who truly understood our needs.”

Enhanced security with biometrics and ADR certification checks
The implementation of biometric access control using finger vein technology resulted in a streamlined and even more secure access process. This technology verifies the identity of each depot visitor. Additionally, ADR compliance checks were integrated into the access process, a crucial step to ensure adherence to legislation regarding hazardous materials.
The collaboration with Secure Logistics also played a key role in the redesign of the terminal layout.
“We restructured our terminal by adding four entry columns at the front and removing rear access points,” explains Hofland.
This change, combined with hardware replacements and automation upgrades, resulted in a fully integrated and efficient access control process. It created a complete solution in the field of access management.
“Thanks to the digital integration with Secure Logistics, we now work more accurately and faster.”
Collaboration
CETEM experiences the collaboration with Secure Logistics as very positive. “Communication is smooth and direct. When issues arise, they respond quickly and look for a fitting solution. They are approachable, thoughtful, and punctual,” says Hofland.
An unexpected benefit CETEM experienced was the extension of the access control system with the integration of ADR certificate checks: “This turned out to be a valuable addition we hadn’t initially considered, but it has brought us great benefits in terms of compliance.”
For CETEM, working together with partners like Secure Logistics remains key to future success: “We see many opportunities to take further steps in digitalisation and integration. By, for example, expanding biometric checks and implementing digital interchange, we can make our processes even more reliable and efficient together.”
