Companies that fall under the Seveso regulations and ISPS sites face major challenges in terms of security and efficiency. These companies work with hazardous substances and have strict security regulations, which require that the identity and authorizations of persons at the gate are carefully checked. At the same time, these companies want to make the access process more efficient and reduce the administrative burden.

Elias, Sales Engineer at Secure Logistics, is closely involved in introducing the Digital Safety Passport to companies that want to improve their security processes. "We notice that organizations are increasingly looking for a way to make their access process faster and more secure, without compromising on accuracy. The Digital Safety Passport offers the perfect solution for this," says Elias.

An extra layer of security with biometrics

More and more Seveso (BRZO) companies and ISPS sites want to strengthen their access processes by using biometric technologies, such as facial recognition. The combination of the Digital Safety Passport and facial recognition (or rather, facial comparison) offers a powerful solution that is fully GDPR compliant. This technology ensures that the identity of each person at the access gate can be verified reliably, contactlessly and quickly, without violating privacy. "Companies can trust that our biometric technology only grants authorized persons access, which is a huge improvement for safety at locations where hazardous substances are handled," says Elias. This provides an additional layer of security and ensures that the existing access process becomes even more robust, without complicated changes.

Efficiency without compromising on safety

A major advantage of the Digital Safety Passport is the reduction of administrative burden. Manual checking of physical certificates and paper documents is often time-consuming and error-prone. This leads to delays and long waiting times at the gate, something that companies in the chemical industry, among others, want to avoid. "Companies want to speed up the access process without compromising safety. Our Digital Safety Passport makes this possible by making information such as a person’s identity, certifications and valid training immediately available,” Elias explains. The Digital Safety Passport eliminates the need for manual checks, as all data is stored digitally and verified in advance by Secure Logistics.
This way, companies know for sure who someone is and whether they are authorized to enter the location or perform work. The Digital Safety Passport also prevents fraud with certifications and training, as all information is kept reliable and up-to-date.

Sustainable and future-oriented

In addition to the benefits in terms of safety and efficiency, sustainability plays an important role. Physical certificates, which often consist of paper and plastic, have a significant ecological footprint. “The Digital Safety Passport makes paper documents redundant, which not only allows companies to work more efficiently, but also contributes to a more sustainable process. This means less material consumption and lower distribution costs,” Elias explains.

Real-world example: faster access control at a chemical plant

A recent example of the added value of the Digital Safety Passport can be seen at a chemical plant that works with hazardous substances and very strict regulations. For this, it is essential that all employees and external parties are fully certified and trained to perform specific tasks. Previously, checking employees and external parties at the gate took between 8 and 12 minutes per person, because the data had to be checked manually. This led to long waiting times and unnecessary delays. "By using the Digital Safety Passport, we were able to significantly speed up the access process," says Elias. Each employee's data was pre-verified by Secure Logistics and linked to their Digital Safety Passport. Upon arrival, the security personnel only had to scan the pass, after which it was automatically checked whether the person had the correct licenses, training and certifications to gain access to specific areas of the plant. Safety instructions were also directly linked to the Digital Safety Passport. This drastically reduced waiting times and significantly improved the efficiency of access control.

A flexible, tailor-made solution

Every organization has unique requirements when it comes to access control and security. At Secure Logistics, we offer tailor-made solutions, tailored to the specific wishes and needs of the company while taking into account the latest security standards. ""For example, we can implement biometric access at the gate to ensure that only authorized persons enter, or we can check for specific certifications in combination with the Digital Safety Passport. In short, our goal is to support companies with a solution that is fully tailored to their needs and helps them make their access processes more efficient and secure," Elias concludes.
